Why to login to luv :
– Their clothes are literally BEAUTIFUL! I fall into a dream state going through their online catalog. This brand proves sustainable fashion can be “fashionable”. Their gowns are a highlight (especially for weddings), but they also have more casual dresses, pants, blouses, etc.
– Many of their products are responsibly made in the US with 100% offset wind energy.
– Look for items made from “deadstock” or surplus fabrics (that would otherwise end up in the landfill) for the maximum eco benefit. They also have items made from Lenzing tencel (eucalyptus-based) or recycled materials.
However, a large amount of their products are made from viscose, which they admit isn’t their favorite fabric since it’s creation uses many of the chemical processes associated with synthetic fabrics. They try to obtain most of their viscose from Lenzing which uses a closed-loop process, recycling the chemicals used in the manufacture. They are looking for a more sustainable replacement that would achieve the same look and feel of viscose. You gotta give them some extra points for transparency here!
– Anyone familiar with my “ecological savings” app knows I love calculating the greenhouse gas emission, water, + waste savings associated with our lifestyle choices. Reformation calculated their own “eco-savings” for 2016 and came up with the following:
– With the help of their customers, they saved: 178 million gallons water, 2.1 million pounds greenhouse gas emissions, + 141 thousand pounds of waste in 2016.
– As you purchase products from them, they calculate your personal eco savings and contribution to the company’s annual total.
– These calculations are based on the total life-cycle of the garment compared to industry standards (from obtaining the raw textile material, to shipping the product to you, + even recycling the product at the end of its life). No stone left unturned in their “sustainable consciousness”.
– You can see the potential eco-savings for each product in their online catalog.
– They use greywater from their manufacturing to irrigate a garden behind their headquarters.
I could go on and on about their sustainability practices because they go into every transparent detail on their website here. Their dedication truly is amazing 🙂
– They want to help you save the environment in other ways as well, by offering a free clothes recycling program to make sure your clothes (Reformation or not) have a full + sustainable life as well.
