Mesquite is a thorny tree native to the desert climates of Columbia, Ecuador, and Peru. A member of the pea family, its fruit (seed pods) have a naturally sweet, molasses-like flavor. Mesquite powder can be used in a myriad of culinary recipes such as baked goods, smoothies, spice rubs, and homemade mesquite seasoning.
A staple food of indigenous cultures, mesquite powder provides a unique flavor to a wide variety of culinary preparations; from baking to cooking, seasoning, and even barbeques.
