A staple fruit with steady sweetness and natural convenience. Bananas appear in the low residue category on the Clean 15 list because their thick peel protects the edible portion during testing, which makes them a safe choice from a consumer health standpoint.

Environmental footprint is a separate topic, and conventional growing methods can still place pressure on surrounding soil, waterways, and ecosystems even when the fruit itself tests clean. As Exist Green grows, we expect our purchasing volume to increase, which will allow us to partner directly with organic or regenerative growers who are not currently set up for the smaller quantities we can take in.

The Clean 15 list is updated each year by the Environmental Working Group and highlights fruits and vegetables that consistently test low for pesticide residues. Items like avocados and bananas have natural protective skins that limit what reaches the edible portion. This makes them a safe everyday choice even when grown conventionally. Great for snacking, baking, smoothies, or breakfast bowls.
