Titanium Dioxide is a white mineral powder used to brighten and opacify DIY soap, body care, and cosmetic formulas. Sourced from rutile, a naturally occurring mineral, it is useful in lotions, face powders, shave creams, lip care, and soap making when a cleaner white color or more opaque finish is desired.
It is also used in mineral-style sun care formulations, though SPF cannot be assumed from the ingredient alone. Any product sold with an SPF claim must be properly tested and labeled to meet regulatory requirements.
The manufacturer describes this version as neither nano nor micronized, and notes that it is water soluble. For cold process soap, add to the lye phase and blend well. For melt and pour soap, disperse in glycerin first, then add gradually.
