Laundry is where marketing works hardest: perfume that reads as clean, brighteners that fake white, pods that dissolve out of sight. This shelf does the opposite: disclosed formulas refilled by weight, tools that extend garment life, and every tradeoff stated in plain sight.

• 1. Pick your washLiquid concentrate. Closed-loop refill by weight with five targeted enzymes. A small dose does a load, it works in cold water, and unscented is the default.Powder. A mineral-built powder refilled by weight, no jug to throw away.Soap nuts. Whole dried berries whose shells release saponins in the wash. Reuse the same shells for several loads. A gentle botanical option; heavily soiled loads may want a pretreat.
• 2. Treat the stain, not the whole loadEnzyme cleaner. Protease for protein, amylase for starch, lipase for oils: enzymes cut the specific stain so you can use less detergent overall. Keep enzymes off wool and silk.Stain stick. A rub-on coconut-soap bar for collars and spot stains. No aerosol, no spray bottle.Oxy Boost. Sodium percarbonate + washing soda releases oxygen in the wash: it whitens and lifts stains without chlorine. Patch test dyed fabric, skip wool + silk, store it dry.Washing soda. The alkalinity booster for hard water and greasy loads. A booster, not a detergent on its own.
• The honest partBrighteners fake white. Optical brighteners are fluorescent coatings that stay on your clothes and trick the eye. Oxygen bleach actually lifts the stain. That is the difference, and it is why we carry one and not the other.Perfume is not clean. Laundry fragrance lives on fabric against your skin all day. Truly unscented means no masking scent either, and it is the default on this shelf.Pods dissolve; they do not disappear. Pod films and detergent sheets are PVA, a synthetic polymer that enters the water with your wash. Dissolving is not the same as biodegrading, so we skip the format entirely.Softener coats your towels. Quaternary softeners work by coating fibers, which is exactly why towels stop absorbing. Dryer balls and correct dosing do the job without the film.
• 3. Dry + keepWool dryer balls. Separate the load mechanically and replace dryer sheets for years. Wool: reusable and compostable, and not vegan, stated plainly.Guppyfriend bag. Catches the microfibers synthetic clothes shed in the wash. It is itself polyamide: a plastic tool doing harm reduction, and we call it exactly that.Air-dry + maintain. Bamboo pins, drying tools, and lint + pill removers. The greenest load is the garment that lasts another year.
