Slippery Elm Bark
$5.00 / oz (~$10/cup)
Native American soothing bark traditionally valued for digestive and throat comfort
Organic | Kosher
Origin: USA
Slippery elm comes from the inner bark of a North American elm species. When mixed with water, it forms a smooth, gel-like texture that has been used for generations in teas and porridges. The flavor is mild, earthy, and slightly sweet, which makes it easy to blend into herbal infusions, oatmeal, smoothies, or soft foods.
Expect a fine, fibrous texture that thickens once hydrated. This natural mucilage is what gives slippery elm its soothing character in traditional preparations.
Use: Stir into warm water for tea, or add to recipes where a gentle thickening effect is desired.
Preparation: Room temperature steep, 30 min – 4 hours. Use 1-2 tsp powdered bark per 8 oz water. (Hot water damages the soothing mucilage.)
Topical: Poulice for soothing skin
Important: Take with at least 8 ounces of liquid.
