Botanical Name: Acacia concinna
Origin: India
Traced back over 4,500 years, shikakai (Acacia concinna, also known as Senegalia rugata) has been used in Ayurveda since the earliest days of this traditional healing system. Made from the dried fruit pods of a tropical climbing shrub in the Fabaceae family, shikakai is valued for its ability to cleanse hair while preserving natural oils. With a naturally low pH, it supports scalp balance, helps strengthen roots, and promotes shine without producing harsh suds. Used as a complete hair wash, it offers a pure, plant-based alternative to commercial shampoo and conditioner. Certified organic and kosher, this powder is sustainably sourced from India.
