Organic Saffron Threads are the dried stigmas of Crocus sativus, prized for their deep golden color and distinctive floral, earthy flavor. This cultivated saffron is grown in the Pacific Northwest and offers a more traceable domestic source for one of the most labor-intensive culinary spices in the world.
Each flower produces just three saffron threads, and it takes nearly 150 flowers to yield a single gram of dried saffron. That careful harvest process is part of what makes saffron so valued, and why even a small pinch can flavor an entire dish.
Use saffron threads in rice dishes, broths, sauces, baking, or steep them in warm water before adding to recipes to help release their color and aroma.
