White willow bark, native to North America, Asia, and Africa, has a long history of use for its pain-relieving properties. Used by Native Americans and later as the basis for aspirin, it is rich in salicin, the natural precursor to acetylsalicylic acid. Popular in teas, capsules, and extracts, it supports joint health and offers natural relief for mild discomforts.
Precautions: Avoid if allergic to aspirin or salicylates. Not for children or adolescents with viral infections due to the risk of Reye’s syndrome.
CAUTION: CONTAINS SALICIN (a salicylate similar to aspirin). Do NOT give to children or teens under 19 — Reye’s Syndrome risk during viral illness. Avoid if aspirin-sensitive, on blood thinners or NSAIDs, or have bleeding disorders, ulcers, asthma, kidney disease, or gout. Do not use longer than 2-3 weeks.
