Exist Green is a plant-based store at heart. To be able to accept SNAP benefits, we carry a very limited selection of responsibly sourced dairy, eggs, and tinned seafood. When animal products are included, they are chosen carefully, with close attention to sourcing methods and environmental impact. We also carry fully plant-based, vegan alternatives inspired by classic tinned seafood, which are linked alongside this listing.
These anchovies are sourced from the Cantabrian Sea and caught by small-boat fishermen using the purse seine method, a targeted fishing approach that minimizes bycatch and avoids damage to the seafloor. They come from Europe’s only MSC-certified sustainable anchovy fishery, reflecting verified management and traceability standards.
After harvest, the anchovies are semi-preserved through a traditional salt-curing process that lasts six to eight months. This slow curing develops their characteristic depth, richness, and umami. The anchovies are then hand-packed by a third-generation, family-owned cannery using time-honored techniques, and finished with premium Spanish extra virgin olive oil sourced from Andalusian farms.
The result is a tender, savory anchovy with a buttery texture and clean finish, well suited for simple preparations like toast, vegetables, or pantry-forward meals.
